Massage & Aging

According to the US Census Bureau, the approximately 73 million Baby Boomers will be 65 or older by 2030. While we can’t stop the aging process, we can improve quality of life as we age.

Geriatric massage has a wide range of benefits, from the active elderly marathon runner, to providing end-of-life comfort for the hospice patient. Given the varying levels of health for older clients, geriatric massage must be tailored to the individual’s needs. Certain contraindications are necessary depending on level of health, but generally speaking, elderly clients can benefit greatly from massage. In additional its helpfulness, the non-invasive and gentle treatment is also highly attractive to a people group who may receive regular, uncomfortable and even painful medical care.
